Updated 27 September 2008!

It have been an incredible summer, but there are many miles to go til the leaves fall...Here is our current calendar!

Spring, summer, winter, fall, any time we are in town, we are available, by appointment, to help build your skinny stick skill set. Built to suit individuals and groups, beginners to advanced. Be your passion flat water or combat rolling or paddling on/in calm or bumpy or salt water. If you are interested, please drop us a line.

September 28 UPDATE We'll be in Shelburne, Vermont, working with our friends in the Champlain Valley Kayak Club. We will offer three articulated sessions, during the course of the day, starting with Rolling basics, then both basic and advanced strokes and braces, followed by more advanced techniques for seasoned twiggers. Please contact us directly to register.

October 3-5 UPDATE We will be teaching the skinny at TAKS, again this year in Mendocino, California. One thing for sure, the water won't be flat, or fresh! Maligiaq Padilla, many times over Qajaqman of the Year at the Greenland National Championships, will also be there. More info available here. We hope to see lots of left-coast skinny stickers there!

October 12 a Greenlandic Intensive, both strokes and rolling, at The Small Boat Shop, Norwalk, Connecticut. Check their site to register!

October 16-21 We are returning to Tybee Island, Georgia to teach skinny stick methods at the Sea Kayak Georgia's Skills Symposium. This is a fantastic Symposium: great people, blades and kayaks of all shapes and sizes, bumpy and still realtively warm water in the Tybee 'Triangle' and environs, as well as terrific evening food and presentations. You will have an opportunity to interact with some of the finest kayakers in the world. Did we mention the dolphins? This year we are offering one-on-one instruction on the 16th and our usual, all-day, 'Greenland Intensives' from the 17th through the 21st. Check out their Symposium link for details! Join us!

We have struggled with this weekend as Delmarva Paddler's Retreat moved their dates from their historical early October dates due to Jewish Holidays, and SKG has moved their dates back into mid-October from the Halloween slot, in order to chase the best Tidal condtions of the year. And now? This year, we can only be at one place at one time;-(... We made a commitment to our good friends at SKG before we knew that DPR had made THEIR date change, and with that committment we will miss the Retreat for the first time in a long while. Hopefully this calendar snafu won't exist next year.

As usual, The SKG symposium wraps up our outdoor instruction season. That helps us find some additional time to update/repair equipment, as well as shift emphasis to indoor pool training.

Starting November 2! NEW! We are kicking off the 2008-2009 pool sessions, at the Sheehan Pool in Wallingford, Connecticut. For more info on how this will play out, check this link. Also, after very cool and productive Skin on Frame workshops in Vermont and Connecticut this past summer, and Florida and two in upper New York State this past winter and spring, there will be more upcoming in 2008 and 2009. Many ARE in the works! Check out workshop details here. Perhaps also in a neighborhood near you? The upcoming schedule holds Minnesota next, in mid-September. Currently in planning stages are winter/spring builds in Toronto, Florida, Nova Scotia, Maryland, and Isle of Skye, and Vinalhaven Maine. We hope to wrap up the 2009 year with a workshop in Perth, Australia. Stay tuned! if you are interested in helping organize one and/or you have a venue that we can bring a workshop to for a couple of weeks, be in touch!

Ongoing

As we noted at the very top of this page, we offer private and semi-prvate instruction on a regular basis. There are ALWAYS possibilities. If you would like to arrange private, semi-private or group instruction in Greenlandic techniques, featuring low-volume kayaks, traditional paddles, norsaq, and tuiliq, for 1 to 8 students, please do not hesitate to contact us for more details on our offerings. Inquire at h2o@kayakways.net

Turner builds custom skin on frame qajaq, as well as custom traditional solid wood paddles, custom fit to you and designed with the water you paddle in, in mind. You might be interested in his background in building, or the way he fits a paddler to a kayak. Contact Turner for more information.

Cheri offers a 'yoga for paddlers' class format for individuals or clubs who feel they are limited by their flexibility, or want to customize their yoga practice as a cross-training tool for paddling. She will share her insights into the many benefits yoga offers for both rolling and paddling. Please contact her!

We also have some pictures from our past travels posted at our photo gallery. There you will find pix sketches from Vermont Madness 2006, a July 4th weekend on Black Island in Maine, a sampling of shots from an August 2006 SOF workshop at Seneca Lake, NY, and a slideshow ushering in 2007 with a smattering of people and place pixs from near and far.

And don't forget all that video footage of rolling that we will continue to update. As they are quite high resolution, we only ask that once to view them you download them to your computer rather than continuing to reload them from our site. This will allow us to contiinue this free service to you without incurring any more additional server fees! Yikes!

We also offer presentations on these paddling topics, above. Please contact us at h2o@kayakways.net if you or your group have an interest or questions about any of these offerings, or would like to have us teach, demo, or present a talk/slideshow at a future event in YOUR area, for YOUR group

Comments? Questions? We'd love to hear from you! Send mail to: h2o@kayakways.net
